Inner Northern Busway, Queensland

Inner Northern Busway

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

The Inner Northern Busway (INB) is a new busway that provides exclusive roadways to maximise bus access through Queensland’s capital city of Brisbane. The busway enhances the sustainable transport alternatives available to city residents and visitors.

The scope of design includes a 600 m section of busway and includes a 140 m long underground platform and a public cycle centre. The INB aims to achieve a wholly integrated approach to sustainability.

The station is thermally efficient with high-efficiency air-conditioning. Water conserving toilets, showers, taps and irrigation will halve water demand, and rainwater will be collected for toilet flushing. The INB will have energy efficient lighting and solar water heating.

The construction program involves recycling water and waste and relocating two iconic native Australian trees. The entire construction process is carbon-neutral, where the greenhouse gas emissions are fully offset through investment in renewable energy and tree planting.

The INB is an Alliance project. For more information go to our INB Alliance project page.
