Trackstar Alliance
Queensland, Australia
On 30 June 2006, Maunsell became part of the Trackstar Alliance. This is a six-year, US$600 million program alliance consisting initially of four separate projects within the Brisbane suburban rail network in Queensland, Australia.
The Alliance is the first of its kind undertaken by Queensland Rail and one of the few infrastructure program alliances in Australia. The total initial US$600 million project portfolio comprises a greenfield extension of the Gold Coast Rail Line, two duplications of the North Coast Mainline and a triplication of an existing city network route. Seven station upgrades are required, including a major new rail station at Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast. The scope of work for the projects comprises the full spectrum of project development work from concept design through to full commissioning.
The fields of expertise include all aspects of railway engineering:
Tracks
Traction power
Overhead electrification
Signalling and communications
Geotechnical, civil and structural works.
Civil and structural works include multiple road re-alignments, new and upgraded road and rail bridges and a multi-track tunnel.
The Alliance scope also involves all environmental approvals and investigations necessary for implementation of the works, including full corridor noise and vibration assessment during construction and operation. Stakeholder and community consultation is managed in-house.
The Maunsell contribution covers design, environmental approvals and investigations and consultation. Maunsell is also involved in the direct management of the architectural and urban design teams. The overall design effort for the program is shared with fully integrated teams for the various projects.
