Song Ba Ha Hydropower Project

The proposed 240 MW Song Ba Ha Hydropower Project is located in the last cascade on the Ba river, Suoi Trai commune, Son Hoa district and Duc Binh Dong commune, Song Hinh district, Phu Yen province.  The project site is some 60 km to the West of Tuy Hoa town. 

Scheduled to be in operation in the year 2010, Song Ba Ha HPP is a multi-purpose project aimed at providing the region with an average annual energy output of 801 million kWh, flood control and water supply for downstream areas.  In addition the project will also improve river navigation and contribute to the development of aqua-cultivation and socio-economy in Phu Yen as well as in the Central Region.

Key components of the project are a 51 m high concrete and earthfill dam, diversion canal and a surface power station. 

Power Engineering Consulting Company No. 1 (PECC1) has been assigned by Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) as the main consultant responsible for investigation and design of the main components.  PECC1 employed Maunsell to assist during the technical design stage of the project.
