FRUP 3 Asset Management Strengthening

The Government of Fiji, as part of the Fiji Road Upgrading Project (FRUP-3) engaged Maunsell to implement a comprehensive Road Maintenance Management System and Road Asset Management System (RMMS-RAMS).
The project covered all roads and road assets, including bridges, under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department (PWD) comprising 900 km of sealed roads, 4,300 km of unsealed roads and 1,200 bridges and major culverts.
Services provided include:
- Review and integration of existing network data into a single database capable of supplying all network management information needs with simplified enquiry/reporting features, integrated into a Geographical Information System (GIS).
- Review of existing data collection procedures (including network level traffic data) and modification to facilitate routine ongoing data collection and updating using manual, semi- and fully-automated methodologies.
- Establishment of computerised routine road and bridge maintenance management systems and a network periodic maintenance/ rehabilitation /reconstruction prioritization system.
- Training of counterpart staff. Full implementation of systems were on a pilot, and ultimately a complete countrywide network.
