Refurbishment of the world's largest living coral reef aquarium for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.

Reef HQ, in Townsville, is the only living coral reef aquarium in Australia, and one of the primary tools for educating the public about the management of the Great Barrier Reef.

The coral reef tank is a closed ecosystem that closely replicates a natural coral reef with sunlight, waves, water movement and the same biodiversity found in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

The team are responsible for in-house design and documentation of structural upgrades, improvements to the water treatment system, resealing of acrylic viewing windows and tunnels and electrical system upgrades.

In addition Maunsell engaged and supervised sub-consultants, tendered the construction packages, supervised construction, administered the contracts and managed the budget.
