Wellington City Council (WCC) implemented an integrated Asset Management System/GIS for management of all of their infrastructure assets (drainage, water supply, road networks, parks and properties).
Maunsell was engaged to provide consultancy support and specialist I.S./I.T. support for the implementation of this integrated AMS/GIS (CONFIRM AMS and ArcInfo plus ArcView GIS).
Project activities consisted of:
- Preparation of a Request for Proposal for Vendor supply of the Asset Management System (AMS)
- Assisted with AMS bid evaluation, system selection and benchmark testing
- Evaluation of the condition and suitability of existing hardcopy and digital assets data
- Design of the GIS database for water supply, drainage, and road networks
- Preparation of a specification and contract documents for the conversion of water supply and roads networks data. Evaluating the tenders.
- Customisation of the GIS for Client quality control of data delivered from conversion Contractors and dor data maintenance
- Performance of acceptance testing on converted data
- Review of the data structures for all of the asset groups to be modelled in the CONFIRM AMS
- Defining standards, procedures and guidelines for the management and maintenance of all spatial and textural asset management data
- Migrated the drainage network database from a legacy AM/FM database into the data structures of the GIS and AMS. This included detailed quality checking, completeness verification, and data improvement
- Provision of ongoing support for Wellington City Council by way of GIS customisations, systems and database support, etc.
