Message from Nigel Robinson
I am pleased to commence calendar year 2007 by welcoming Richard Jackson to his new role as CEO for our Australia, New Zealand, and Asia (ANZA) operating company.
With more than 3,600 people across our ANZA and Middle East operating groups, we have a richness of cultural and ethnic diversity that encourages compassion and tolerance. We are fortunate to draw from this rich diversity in our everyday operations, working with a strong team of dedicated and talented people. In 2007, we will continue to build a progressive work culture that is founded on mutual respect and trust.
The first quarter of the 2007 fiscal year, which ended on 30 December 2006, has delivered excellent results in both ANZA and the Middle East and it is gratifying to start the year from such a strong position. I would like to express my thanks to our clients and staff for their enthusiasm in 2006. Our commitment to excellence has received wide recognition across our regions and within the professional services industry, with us winning an unprecedented number of major project awards.
Additionally, in 2006 we became the first engineering consulting firm in Australia to win a Gold Award for quality systems, achieving company-wide certification to international standards. The engineering community has also acknowledged the calibre of our people, among them Darren Cash, Runner Up in the New Zealand Young Engineer of the Year Awards.
With our continued focus on excellence, 2007 presents many new opportunities to build client relationships and apply our project management systems and leading edge technologies to our work. As the lead designers and managers for many of the signature projects in our regions, among them the Abu Dhabi Tourist Club (United Arab Emirates) and the Gateway Bridge Upgrade (Queensland, Australia), the size and scale of our project portfolio will continue to drive the growth of our business.
Ultimately, our future success will be thanks to our talented team of people. I look forward to working with you to build on our success in 2007 and beyond.
